Cataracts are clumps of protein that stick to the lens of the eye. As more and more proteins cover the eye lens, vision is reduced more and more. The active ingredient in Cataract Clear – and many similar products, is called L-Carnosine. It is L-Carnosine that breaks down the material that makes up a cataract However, L-Carnosine in its most basic form is unable to enter through the front of the eye and so a version that can enter the eye – an “acetyl” version called N-Acetyl-Carnosine - is used. Once this has penetrated the eye, it changes its state back to L-Carnosine. This L-Carnosine must make its way to the eye lens where it slowly but surely breaks down the proteins that form the cataract covering the eye lens. It is a gradual process that takes time. These cataract protein particles that have been broken away from the cataract/lens of the eye, then gradually make their way out of eye through the front of the eye. In some cases, while this process is taking place a change in vision can occur and the cataract can look different than it did before using Cataract Clear, which is all perfectly normal.
Incidentally, L-Carnosine not only breaks down cataracts but has other beneficial eye properties, such as being an antioxidant.
No matter what the active ingredient/s of a cataract treating eye drop is/are, this/these ingredients need to be in a solution for delivery to the eye. Many existing cataract treating eye drops that also use N-Acetyl-Carnosine as the active ingredient, contain just 1% N-Acetyl-Carnosine in a solution of other ingredients, such as Purified Benzyl Alcohol (which acts as a Preservative), that are not, to say the least, necessarily good for the eye, especially long term. Cataract Clear contains much more of the active ingredient N-Acetyl-Carnosine, 4.2% in fact and is a completely holistic solution of steam distilled water and our specially formulated colloidal silver which keeps the solution fresh and useable for much longer than all other similar eye drops. The additional benefit of using Cataract Clear is that it contains ingredients that car can possibly have a negative on the eyes of people or animals.
Why am I not seeing any improvement?
We highlight in our product listings that results can take weeks, months or several months to achieve. We do this so that potential customers are fully aware that Cataract Clear – just like ALL other similar products - is very unlikely to bring about quick results. (Please see why the length of time to achieve results can vary below.)
Unlike taking an aspirin for a headache which then goes in an hour or so or antibiotics for an infection that goes after a few days, consistent use of Cataract Clear is the key. Please bear in mind you are trying to tackle an issue from "the outside" of the eye which then has to penetrate the cornea of the eye (which in itself can be a problem, please see more below) and make its way to the lens of the eye and then break down the cataract material. IT WORKS, but, in some cases, it can take a little time, so persistence is the key.
Why do some people/pets take much longer than others to achieve results?
One problem that can delay results is the actual front membrane of the eye – the cornea. As people/pets age, the cornea gets tougher and this makes it more difficult for any eye drops to penetrate the cornea in order to enter the eye where they can do their work. Cataract Clear eye drops will soften the cornea to enable the penetration of the eye drops but this process can take time. As the cornea softens so more and more of the eye drop solution can penetrate the eye and do its job. Eye drop cornea penetration problems can be even worse to begin with if there have been other eye issues, such as eye ulcers, which scar and also toughen up the eye cornea.
Once the eye drops are actually penetrating the eye there is the other issue of how thick and well established the cataract is. The thicker and more established cataracts take much longer to break down than thinner, newer cataracts.
